Incubus - a ghost hunters tale -

Most ghosts are based on witness statements, previous owners and tenants mostly, over the 20 years I’ve been investigating the house. I take a lot of reports with a grain of salt, but thought it worthwhile to represent the ‘experiences’, from mild paranormal activity like ‘tappers’ (tapping on windows and doors) to spontaneous combustion and my least favourite ‘raspers’.
Here’s a few scary things that have been reported at the house.
Piles of sand or dirt, neat pyramid shapes, found in the middle of rooms, two floors up.
Indentations of figure shapes on beds, as if someone were laying there.
The doorbell ringing throughout the night, to the point where the owner fitted a door bell cam. Guess what, no-one on the footage.
Knocking on windows and doors, all hours, to the point where the tenant called the police.
Shadows of people on the two staircases, and a shadow figure seen at the top of the stairs.
Unexplainable fires. One cased by a coal from a stove that wasn’t even lit. Another was explained as faulty old copper wiring, but the owner insists it was unconnected to the mains.
Voices. It’s a standalone house, once part of a longer terrace that got bombed during The Blitz. Some owners have reported being able to listen to whole conversations through the walls, where no buildings stand.
Scrawled graffiti on walls, like someone had broken in to the house, but police found no evidence of breaking and entering. Weirdly, the wall marks were hard to clean off, took a lot of painting over, and still show up from certain angles. An annoyance to owners.
Rasping in the ear, undeniable as I’ve experienced it myself. It’s also one of the most common paranormal phenomena reported by the public. Some even feel their hair move, as if disturbed by a death breath.
Pig squeals, totally unexplained, but I must point out that the house is near several main roads. I think it’s brakes squealing, and not satanic offerings screaming out their pain… but, you never know, so it’s included too.
Furniture that seems to move to arrive from no-one. One owner had the house filled with antiques and brikabrak as they had a shop in Angel, upcycling antiques. Except, new items would turn up in the house, quite valuable too, in pretty much mint condition. A ghost with good taste looking to eBay their stuff from the afterlife?
Lots of reports of being pushed or shoved on the stairs, and tiny landings. Not great in those small London terraces as the stairs are steep and often wooden. One owner spent a while in hospital with two broken ribs after taking a terrible tumble down the stairs. Friends said they’d had a wine or two, but the victim was adamant that they were pushed. I’ve not experienced that, but I’ve also included the phenomena.
Infestations. Flies, wasps, ants, mould, dry rot, fleas, bed bugs, damp, lice, rats… you name it, this house has had it. One owner sold up because of the cost of refitting certain rooms and lifting floors to stop the (mostly unexplainable and unpredictable) INFESTATIONS!
My making of video on Steam has more information about how the game works and how paranormal activity is unpredictable and driven by its own Ai. Real house, ‘real’ hauntings.
